The IIFM Center of Excellence for Banking & Finance is a focused effort to create & execute the best in class programs for this vertical. This is enabled through close industry interaction with veterans of the industry. The cornerstone of this venture is the Industry panels that not only come in as faculty, but also update the course through live case studies. The academic rigor is brought by in by several people who are alumni of Wharton, Harvard & the IIMs. Some known luminaries associated with this initiative are –

G. Chokkalingam, an acclaimed analyst & frequently covers the market on NDTV & CNBC. He is currently the CIO at Centrum Capital. He has been a Director with Barclay’s Wealth India for Research & Strategy. His research articles have been published in the Asian Journal of Economics, Economic & Political Weekly, Economic Times and Financial Express.

Mrs. Ranjana Kumar, ex- Vigilance Commissioner – Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and ex-CMD, Indian Bank and NABARD, is a professional banker with rich and diverse experience of around 40 years in Domestic and International Banking. Mrs. Kumar, under her chairmanship, was instrumental in turning around Indian bank from a loss making entity riddled by huge NPL losses, into a successful bank during her tenure from 2000 to 2003. Prior to this, she was Executive Director holding concurrent charge as chairperson of Canara Bank in 1999. As Chief Executive Officer of Bank of India’s U.S. Operations during 1995-99, she procured for Bank of India, ‘strong’ rating from the Federal Reserve 1998 for the first time in the bank’s 20 years’ history. She has been recipient of various awards, notable being, ‘BMA Management Woman Achiever of the Year Award 2008-09’, ‘Banker of the Year 2002’ by Business Standard, ‘Best Professional Manager - 2003’ from Financial Express, and was acclaimed ‘India’s turn around Queen – Nov. 2003’ by The Economist, UK.

Kiran Nadkarni, has been a pioneering figure in the Indian venture capital industry. He started the venture capital business of ICICI and managed it during the first eight years. Later, he was a partner at Draper International, a venture firm based in San Francisco, which invested in India and the US. Prior to starting the Kaatizone venture, he was a co-founder of Jumpstartup, a venture firm that invested in technology businesses both in India and the US. During his career, he helped several entrepreneurial businesses by providing start-up and early-stage capital and brought the initial successes of venture capital industry to public markets.
